Ted Kennedy dies, American era ends
Edward Kennedy, he last of the storied band of brothers whose triumphs and tragedies dominated a generation of American politics, has died after losing his year-long battle with brain cancer.
The "liberal lion" of the US Senate, who was once seen as a political heir to his assassinated elder brother John F. Kennedy as President, died late Tuesday at his home at Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. He was 77.
He will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery near his two brothers, JFK and Robert Kennedy, assassinated in 1963 and 1968 respectively.
